If the alcohol is a kind of colorless liquid, for instance, beer or white spirits, you first need to prepare a clean cloth. Dip the cloth in the clean water and then gently pat the cloth onto the place where it is stained. After that, dip another piece of cloth in the neutral abluent and still gently pat the place. In the following, use the cloth that you have dipped in the clean water to rub the stained place in order to clean away the abluent.

If the alcohol has stayed in the cross-stitch for long time, you can add some vinegar and ammonia to the cloth.

If the cross-stitch is stained by the alcohol containing coloring mater, for instance wine, you should use liquid that contains half ethyl alcohol and half ammonia. Apply the liquid with the cloth onto the stained place and gently rub it. You can also dip the cloth into the salty water and gently rub the place. And then use the cloth that you have dipped into the clean water to rub away the ammonia or salty water.
